Hi guys, next sunday I'll be in New York city for an entire week and I was thinking about buying an unlocked iphone 4s (I'm from Italy so I need the unlocked version). I've read on various forums that the only way to buy an unlocked Iphone 4s is to reserve it the evening before and then pick it up the next morning at the retail store. The problem is that from the Apple website, if I choose to reserve the phone, no matter what NYC store I choose it always says unavailable so I can't made the reservation:
Is it possibile that the unlocked Iphone is unavailable in all NY stores or am I making some mistake? And...can you confirm that the only way to buy the unlocked Iphone 4s is to reserve it the day before?
A bipartisan group of 41 senators on Monday called on Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) and Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) to pass a long-term flood insurance bill either this month or as soon as possible when the Senate returns from next week?s President?s Day break.
The National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP) expires at the end of May this year, and since 2008, the program has been extended only for short periods of time. The senators wrote that the program expired four times in 2010, resulting in a lapse of coverage.
?It has been estimated that those program lapses resulted in the delay or cancellation of more than 1,400 home closings per day, further damaging an already fragile housing market,? the senators wrote.
The letter, led by Sens. Jon Tester (D-Mont.) and David Vitter (R-La.), also notes that while the House approved a long-term flood insurance program last July, the Senate has yet to move on a bill approved by the Senate Banking Committee.
The Property Casualty Insurers Association of America welcomed the letter and said it shows the Senate is ready to follow the House?s lead.

SUNDAY, Feb. 12 (HealthDay News) -- A best friend can help children deal with negative experiences, a new study suggests.
"Having a best friend present during an unpleasant event has an immediate impact on a child's body and mind," said study co-author William Bukowski, a psychology professor and director of the Center for Research in Human Development at Concordia University, in Montreal. "If a child is alone when he or she gets in trouble with a teacher or has an argument with a classmate, we see a measurable increase in cortisol levels and decrease in feelings of self-worth."
In conducting the study, researchers asked 55 boys and 48 girls from grades 5 and 6 in Montreal to record their feelings and experiences in a journal over the course of four days. The children's levels of cortisol -- the stress hormone -- were also monitored in regular saliva tests.
The study, recently published in the journal Developmental Psychology, found that cortisol increased and self-worth decreased when a child had a negative experience. However, with a best friend present when trouble struck, cortisol levels and feelings of self-worth changed less.
The researchers noted that what happens during childhood can affect people as adults, including having feelings of low self-worth.
"Our physiological and psychological reactions to negative experiences as children impact us later in life," explained Bukowski in a university news release. "Excessive secretion of cortisol can lead to significant physiological changes, including immune suppression and decreased bone formation. Increased stress can really slow down a child's development."
The study's authors said previous studies have also shown that having friendships can help protect people from bullying, exclusion and other forms of aggression.

MEADVILLE ? About two years after halting expansion plans into the Conneaut Lake area, Meadville-based Wesbury United Methodist Retirement Community now is looking to expand north into Erie County, possibly sometime in 2013.
Wesbury is in the midst of developing plans for a senior residential community on an 11.5-acre site of the former Edinboro Inn along Route 6N, according to Donald Clawson, Wesbury?s president and chief executive officer.
Annesley Association of Senior Health Services, a wholly-owned Wesbury subsidiary, purchased the property in December, and the site is being cleared for potential development as single-family homes, Clawson said.
Wesbury is a continuing-care retirement community offering independent living, assisted living and skilled nursing care in Meadville.
In 2009, Wesbury began to formulate development plans for a 30-unit apartment with some retail space along Route 322, east of Conneaut Lake.
However, it never purchased any property in the area and instead was going to use an outside developer.
In the spring of 2010, Wesbury said the Conneaut Lake project wasn?t going to go forward, due to a sour economy. Wesbury was concerned the apartments would be overpriced for the market by the time they were completed, Clawson said at the time.
Edinboro proposal
No site plan has been developed as yet for the Edinboro property, but it would be similar to Thoburn Village, a single-family home/independent living area developed on Wesbury?s property between Park Avenue and North Main Street, in Meadville, Clawson said.
?As part of our long-range strategy, our board of directors adopted a plan that included opportunities in surrounding communities to expand our mission so we could help more people,? Clawson said.
?Conneaut Lake is on hold, but it?s still on the drawing board for the possible future,? Clawson said.
However, Clawson cautions the proposed Edinboro project still has a long way to go.
Zoning for the Edinboro property has to be changed to accommodate single-family homes as well as a possible small commercial plaza, he said.
Wesbury is planning to submit a zoning change application in the coming weeks, he said.
Also, sewer, water and natural gas lines will have to be extended from the former hotel site to other areas of the property, he said.
?It will be a year before infrastructure would be in place,? Clawson said.
Preliminary ideas call for a cluster of one-story single-family independent living homes of 1,400 to 1,800 square feet each, but the number of new homes won?t be known until a site plan is developed, he said.
In addition to the homes, Wesbury is looking to have a small commercial center on the property, he said. Wesbury also would have an office for maintenance and other services at the property, he said.
The homes are expected to be in the $200,000 to $250,000 range, he said.
?They?re to be designed for ?empty-nesters,? those who have raised a family and are looking for a smaller home,? Clawson said.
There already is a preliminary list of those interested, Clawson said. He wouldn?t say how many, but said the list had less than a dozen names.
The former hotel site is adjacent to a golf course and outdoor swimming pool, he said. The owners of the golf course and pool are interested in having the development take place, Clawson said.
General McLane School District, the local school district in Edinboro, the borough of Edinboro and surrounding townships all have Local Economic Revitalization and Tax Assistance (LERTA) programs for residential properties, but not commercial ones, Clawson said.
A LERTA program forgives a certain portion of real estate taxes for a defined period of time to spur property development.
Many commercial LERTA programs are for five or 10 years, with taxes abated a certain percentage each year until the full 100 percent payment level is reached.
Wesbury is working with the school board and Edinboro to develop a LERTA program for the property, Clawson said.
?We think it?s an ideal spot for a small residential community,? Clawson said.

BEIJING (Reuters) ? Chinese authorities are investigating eggs which bounce after being boiled and may make men sterile, state media reported Friday, in the latest food safety scare to hit the country.
The eggs, being referred to in Chinese media and on the internet as "rubber eggs" or "ping pong eggs," are too hard to eat, raising suspicion they are fake, after appearing in "small numbers" in markets nationwide, Xinhua news agency said.
"The investigation is designed to appease consumers' concerns, after some suspected they bought artificial eggs made by unconscientious traders seeking profits," it reported.
However, the eggs' hardness could be a natural occurrence, caused by hens consuming large amounts of food enriched with a compound called gossypol, which binds to protein in egg yolks, Xinhua said.
"While gossypol normally exists in the residue of cotton seeds added to chicken feed as an extra protein source, large doses of the compound will suppress sperm activity as gossypol has been tested to be used in male contraceptive pills," it added.
Food safety worries are nothing new to China, where tales of fake cooking oil, tainted milk and watermelons which explode from being fed too much fertilizer regularly appear in the news.
In 2008, at least six children died and nearly 300,000 became ill from powdered milk laced with melamine, an industrial chemical added to low quality or diluted milk to fool inspectors by giving misleadingly high readings for protein levels.

Lynne Quarmby, a Simon Fraser University scientist with a passion for promoting the importance of science to life's sustenance, will have a captive audience during the world's largest science fair in Vancouver.
The cell biologist will talk to 30 top-flight American high school science students and their teachers on Feb. 16 at the American Junior Academy of Science's annual conference (AJAS) at the SFU Burnaby campus.
The AJAS conference dovetails every year with the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS) conference, which is at the Vancouver Convention Centre, Feb. 16 to 20, this year.
The AAAS, the publisher of the journal Science, is the world's largest scientific organization bringing together scientists, policy-makers and the public to advance science and science education.
The AJAS is the United States' only honour society recognizing and inducting as lifetime Fellows the crme de la crme among American high school students producing outstanding scientific research. Many of their teachers are AJAS members too.
AJAS delegates take advantage of the two conferences' coincidence to tour local science institutions, share their research and attend the larger conference's sessions.
Quarmby is relishing the opportunity of addressing the American junior scientists with her speech, Science, Serendipity and Society, 8:45 to 9:15 a.m., at the SFU Diamond Alumni Centre.
