Missouri Gov. Jay Nixon on Monday unveiled his Missouri Works initiative, a plan to attract more next-generation jobs and improve the skills of Missouri?s workforce, calling it his top legislative priority for 2012.

The proposal includes attracting next-generation automotive supplier jobs to Missouri, training workers for high-tech jobs, setting up an online information center for Missouri businesses seeking to expand exports, and opening export offices in Asia and South America.

The governor also wants $4 million for the Missouri Science and Innovation Act to offer incentives to science and technology companies.

The plan also calls for maintaining funding for job training and for helping military veterans by reimbursing employers a portion of new workers? salaries while they complete training.
